Syllabus Signatures Requirement Given the nature of this course, all students taking Precalculus are required to submit the syllabus signed by their parents and themselves. Students and parents will be called in for an interview in case the syllabus is not submitted within the first week of class. This mainly a way to make sure that all parties involved are well aware and timely informed about the expectations and policies governing this course. Please print only this compact version to minimize environmental impact but make sure you and your parents read the full syllabus, which is available to download on the Handouts tab.
Make sure your syllabus displays version 3.11 or up (older versions do not display the most recent changes), else you will be asked to submit your syllabus again. Up to date Precalculus syllabus can be downloaded here.

Frequently Asked Questions
What web browser should I use?

The platform works best with current versions of Chrome, Firefox or Safari. You can also use Internet Explorer v. 9+. This course is optimized for mobile devices, but not all units will work on mobile. See the list of supported browsers for the most up-to-date information.

My laptop does not have a built-in camera or microphone, can I still use it for the class?

Yes. However, in order to take proctored exams you will need to mount both a micrphone and a camera. If you do not have access to both of them, you will need to take the a regular proctored exam in the computer lab. To take online proctored exams at home, make sure you have a working microphone and webcam.

Is this an online course?

No. Online courses have a modality that is specific to full-blown distance learning. This is the online portion of the course. You will still have 5 lectures of Precalculus every week and most of the work that you will be doing online can be done in paper before submitting it online.

Can I advance at my own pace?

Only to some extent. You can finish a whole stage or block in a day if you want. However, some sections will not be visible until the release dates, which may or may not match your current section or course progress. Similarly, sections have expiry dates and will remain open only during such timeframe. You are encouraged to practice good time-management habits if you have never taken open courses online. Deadlines can approach fast and workload could overwhelm you if you do not have good time-management habits.

I do not know what to expect from the course, seems like a lot to process, should I be nervous?

No. You can relax but not stall. The overall homework workload (including WeBWorK assignments) is designed to require 1 hour for every hour in class. You may find yourself spending a bit more or less than that depending on your organizational skills and your math background. However, if at any point in the semester you find yourself spending more than 12 hours a week doing homework, please contact me . I will review your case and help you by making the necessary arrangements.
